Mow grass on sports fields listed  to a uniform height of:

For the duration of the football season (Mar-Sept inclusive) the growth shall be cut to a uniform height of 25 mm.  It should not be allowed to grow longer than 50mm and should not be cut shorter than 25mm

Mowing shall be undertaken to provide a cut surface at an optimum grass height, for weekend use particularly during the appropriate season

Removal of debris resulting from mowing. Storm debris to be removed by the Birchip Community Leisure Centre Inc Committee.

No windrows, clean and even cut to provide a high quality playing surface to the satisfaction of the client.

Growth is to be nominally 25 mm high 24 hours after the cut. Growth must never exceed 50mm.

Abutting hard surfaces should be free of cut material at the completion of the cut and should not appear in excessive amounts on garden beds

Watering

Watering  and watering system Maintenance

(i)   The Contractor shall notify the Executive Committee with any maintenance requirements of all automatic irrigation systems.

(ii)   Each system shall be checked and fully functional prior to the anticipated watering season and continuing checks on a regular basis throughout the watering season shall be undertaken to ensure the system is kept fully operational with minimal water wastage.

(iii) The Contractor shall liaise with the Executive Committee concerning any matter relating to the design and operation of all the systems that must allow for maximum water efficiency in accordance with the desired service standards.

(iv) The Contractor will be responsible for isolating or re-programming watering systems to suit special events or changed activities.  All areas are to be watered during evening and early morning periods to ensure maximum water penetration.

(v)   Sub ground watering devices, including but not limited to tap boxes, quick coupling valves, pop up sprinklers etc. must be maintained level and flush with the soil.  Pop up risers should be fully retracted when not in use.

(vi) The Contractor shall ensure that the timers on all automatic sprinkler systems are synchronized

 

Prior to the beginning of the sporting season the contractor shall liaise with the Football Club and set up the automatic irrigation system to automatically irrigate the sporting facilities according to the requirements of the Football Club. 

It is the responsibility of the contractor to carry out and monitor the watering agreed to by the Football Club.

If there is any dispute, or shortages of water are envisaged, the General committee or the Executive Committee will determine the amount and frequency that the automatic watering system is set to water the sporting facilities.

 

Spraying

Horticultural Chemical Application

(i)            Application of horticultural chemicals shall only be carried out by operators having completed an approved Chemical Users Course and in addition, must be experienced and responsible in the application of horticultural chemicals in public places.  Approved horticultural chemicals must be used in compliance with manufacturer’s directions and current legislation including but not limited to the Health Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

(ii)           All horticultural chemicals shall only be stored in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations and relevant Australian Standards.

(iii)          Signage nominating the chemical being used should be clearly displayed on the applicator’s vehicle.

(iv)          At all times, herbicides should only be used as a tool where other forms of maintenance are potentially destructive or impractical.  Their use should be minimal.

(v)           Glyphosate based herbicide, mixed in accordance with manufacturers recommendations and used in accordance with those recommendations is the only knockdown herbicide approved for the control of weeds along fence lines, in garden and shrub beds, around trees - grassed areas, along sand or similar pathways, around equipment, along drainage lines or in preparation of new landscape areas.

(vi)          Knockdown herbicide shall only be used as follows:

Solid or chain mesh fence line

-      150mm strip along base of fence

Tree surrounds

-      300mm out from trunk of tree

Asphalt paths

-      to limit of asphalt surface

Drainage swales

-      invert only

Concrete paths/segmental paving

-      joints only

(vii)              Care must be taken to avoid drift or overspray onto non-target species including dripping from spray lines and transferal of herbicide via applicators, footwear or vehicle tyres.  The Contractor shall be liable for damage to Birchip Community Leisure Centre Inc. plants or claims from other parties for spray drifts or off target spraying

(viii)             Herbicide application shall not take place within the Reserve Boundary whilst user groups are in attendance.

(ix)                The Contractor is responsible for the control of noxious weeds growing in the reserve and must be managed in line with the Catchment and Land Protection Act, 1994.

(x)                 The contractor is responsible for weed control by spraying along fence lines, along the edges of structures and buildings, (other than the Leisure Centre Buildings) drainage lines and swales, paths and trees. Chemicals will be supplied and paid for by the Birchip Community  Leisure Centre Inc,.

Once in the first week of May and once in the third week of August.

Hockey Field

For the duration of the hockey season (Mar-Sept inclusive) the growth shall be cut to a uniform height of 12 mm it should not be allowed to grow longer than 25mm and should not be cut shorter than 12mm

Mowing shall be undertaken to provide a cut surface at an optimum grass height, for club use particularly during the appropriate season

Removal of debris resulting from mowing. Storm debris to be removed by the Birchip Community Leisure Centre Inc Committee.

No windrows, clean and even cut to provide a high quality playing surface to the satisfaction of the Client.

Growth is to be nominally 12 mm high 24 hours after the cut. growth must never exceed 50mm.

 

Abutting hard surfaces should be free of cut material at the completion of the cut and should not appear in excessive amounts on garden beds

 

Prior to and Within 24 hours of the normal weekly training if practicable.

For the duration of the tennis season (Sept-Apr inclusive) the growth shall be cut to a uniform height of 15 mm it should not be allowed to grow longer than 20mm and should not be cut shorter than 5mm

Mowing shall be undertaken to provide a cut surface at an optimum grass height, for weekend use particularly during the appropriate season

Removal of debris resulting from mowing. Storm debris to be removed by the Birchip Community Leisure Centre Inc Committee.

Clipping to be collected, no windrows. Clean and even cut to provide a high quality playing surface to the satisfaction of the client.

Growth is to be nominally 15 mm high 24 hours after the cut Ideally growth should never exceed 30mm.

Abutting hard surfaces should be free of cut material at the completion of the cut and should not appear in excessive amounts on garden beds

During the Tennis season,

Mow once per week starting the second week in September on Thursdays - plus

One mow in the first week of June, and

One mow in the first week of August.

Hard Surface areas

3.2.4.Hard Surface Sports Areas

These areas include the synthetic and flexi pave tennis courts.  The contractor is not required to undertake any maintenance activities or line marking on these playing surfaces but will be required to carry out mowing, horticultural chemical application, brush cutting and litter control on the surrounds to these areas. 

The contractor shall ensure that maintenance in these areas is to a high standard and meets the needs of the community and user groups.
